The Victoria ID Clinic is a partnership between TAPS, the office of MLA Carole James, and the University of Victoria chapter of Pro Bono Students of Canada. Individuals who need their birth certificate for primary identification but can’t afford the fees, or need help navigating the often complicated applications for these documents, can attend clinics hosted by Our Place Society and the Greater Victoria Public Library. Students from the University of Victoria help fill out applications with the assistance of a supervising lawyer. The applications are then processed, follow-up work is conducted if necessary, and upon their arrival clients can pick up their ID at the TAPS office.
