Employment Opportunity - TAPS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The TOGETHER AGAINST POVERTY SOCIETY (TAPS) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. TAPS is a small, but mighty non-profit society that provides free legal advocacy to people requiring help with income assistance, provincial and federal disability benefits, employment standards and tenancy matters who live in the Capital Regional District. TAPS is a leading voice for social justice in the province of British Columbia.
The Position, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, is responsible for organizational oversight, effectively managing day to day operations, human resources, budgets and service outcomes.
The ideal person for this post will have an understanding of the needs of people living in poverty and must exhibit strong advocacy, organizational, communication and leadership skills. Knowledge of poverty law in British Columbia is critical. A caring and practical approach is essential.
Those applying for this position should have a law degree, or Master’s level degree in social work, social sciences or other related discipline. Experience in legal advocacy and relevant supervisory experience is an asset. Experience working with a volunteer base and knowledge of various computer programs is essential.
Salary is in the $55,000-$65,000 range plus benefits and is dependent upon qualifications
